On 13th March 2019, more than a hundred pupils of the local Ensor Institute took to the streets of Ostend to march for more art in the public space. They practice what they preach and, together with The Crystal Ship, designed a propaganda poster campaign. They also let their creativity loose on one of Ostend’s façades.
This mural is now part of the city’s permanent outdoor street art exhibition. With the guidance of Joachim, artist for The Crystal Ship, they painted numerous figures in primary colours. The students ask us not to be biased against art studies. Art schools teach a wider range of skills than mere painting techniques: meeting deadlines, copywriting, collaboration, doing research and many more.
