Ben Slow studied Fine Arts at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury. He did not touch a drop of paint for years, until he could no longer resist the urge. Ben Slow went looking for a homage to love for The Crystal Ship. He met Jean and Jeanine, then 89 and 76. Many years ago it was love at first sight for this Ostend elderly couple. Impressed by these two people, Slow paid tribute to their love for each other, in his own characteristic hyper-realistic style, on the wall of the Ostend Hotel.
