Broken Fingaz

Saying that Israeli art collective Broken Fingaz is hard to categorise is an understatement on the scale of the Burj Khalifa. From animated videos for U2 to erotic comics and ceramic masks, there isn’t much these three artists aren’t willing to tackle. This makes the mural showing a dove of peace falling from the sky that they created for The Crystal Ship – which appears so simple at first glance – so unique. Broken Fingaz is, of course, capable of even greater craziness. But apart from the fact that there is nothing more difficult than to capture a single, important message in one simple image, an artist sometimes has to resist the temptation to keep adding more details and colours. Sometimes, ‘less’ is really ‘more’.
