Hera still excels in a kind of fairy-tale scenes, in which children and animals intermingle – generally complemented by a striking message from the German artist. Also striking: notwithstanding her otherwise rather figurative approach, Hera always paints the eyes of her protagonists realistically, so it looks like they are watching you with a piercing gaze.
