Hera
Hera was once part of the iconic duo Herakut, which excelled in fairy tale scenes with children and animals interspersing – often accompanied by a striking message. The German artist has since continued on this path alone. As demonstrated by this work, in which a girl wearing a fox hoodie wanders around a most striking souvenir shop – all clear references to Ensor’s life and work. Also striking: notwithstanding her otherwise rather figurative approach, Hera always paints the eyes of her protagonists realistically, so it looks like they are watching you with a piercing gaze.
